Well, that was fun after the amusing furore yesterday! Glad that when I picked up the Runaway Deluxe second-hand two years it was for a decent, relatively low price, otherwise I'd have been massively annoyed today. Orders in for The Abyss (a favourite film of mine), Vibes (I'm a sucker for outlandish 80s fantasy) and Midway, (which I never got around to last year). Star Trek: Nemesis will hopefully stick around for a while at 5000 so I'll grab that another time.

Anyone clock the total run time on Star Trek Nemesis and The Abyss film scores (minus alternate cues/source cues/etc)? How does it compare to the original releases' run times?

For those outside of the US, do you also find it odd that Colosseum (the germans) are charging almost double for these encore and club titles? Nemesis costs 25 $, Colosseum charges 32 euro which converts to 43 $ (!). The encores go at Varese for 18 $, Colosseum charges 23 euro which converts to 31 $... I have zero incentive to order my scores from them even though it would make sense I did. No, not odd at all because Varese does not give any dealer discounts !! And after freight, import duties, profit, etc. they need to charge that. For Colosseum, being the official branch for Varèse in Europe, it's odd. Ans club prices never were this high. Perhaps the sale to Cutting Edge is the cause. Not too odd, it's always been more expensive from Colesseum than ordering direct from Varese. More than just tax. There has always been the trade off against possibly getting hit by import duty

So has Varese stopped doing samples? No. Just click on the player at the bottom of the page.

All in for The Abyss. It's one of my favorite movies from my teen-age years. I can still rewatch it any time and it holds up beautifully. There's no question it's Cameron most personal film and a sincere effort from start to finish. It's arguably the best score from any James Cameron film, edging out Titanic. The main theme is hummable and memorable, the action music is intense, even the quiet atmospheric music is effective, and surprisingly for an '80s Silvestri score none of it sounds like Back to the Future outtakes. I'm not sure if any great cues were missing from the old album, but I'm definitely curious about the alternate cues. For sure this is a must buy if you don't have the original yet. Too bad the samples aren't working on the other new titles. I'm not familiar with these movies. Wow, listening to the samples to see what older releases I might want to buy, Tatum’s Torture from Scream sounds a whole lot like some of the Grievous chase music from Revenge of the Sith. Looks like Trek and Abyss are selling equally fast. Then Brass Target and Vibes. And the slow ones are Suspect and Runaway. I think Brass Target will sell out first, then Abyss, then Vibes. Star Trek Nemesis: The Deluxe Edition (4442 Available) The Abyss: The Deluxe Edition (2433 Available) Suspect (1730 Available) Vibes (1668 Available) Runaway (1798 Available) Brass Target (633 Available)
