Apologies if this information is hiding somewhere. But I'm unclear on what the source for Disc One is. It sounds like it might be the "music only" track for the film. But the quality sounds not quite up to par with the Disc 2, mixed soundtrack album. Anyone know? Thanks... The entire thing, with the exception of about 4 cues, came from the original multi-track, all re-mixed by Mike Matessino, based on Dan Wallin's original mixes. Neil

So, is Disc 2 from a different recording session? Why does the quality sound better? Is it just the mix? Thanks... Same mixes. Neil

Neil And what's incredible to me is that even though I know about 4 cues were missing and had to be sourced by other means, it's not obvious to my ear that there are 4 cues from a different source. That's great mastering for you, I guess! Neil, how did you get those missing cues? Cheers

Well, having played the CD to death non-stop for a few days (this, to me, is 'real' film music, not that droning stuff that pounds your ears for two hours and then you can't remember a single note of it), I decided to re-watch the film last night. I'd forgotten just how much the making of documentary focussed on Barry and the music. I love it when William Hurt says the first thing that blew him away when he saw the finished film was the music. Yes, it was perfect music for that film. Cheers

Indeed it is a perfect little film, for me. And a perfect score to accompany it! I do wonder why Kasdan never used Barry again (or, alternatively, why Barry didn't want to score any more LK films).

That's an interesting question since both men were apparently enthusiastic about the other. At least about Body Heat, anyway. The Big Chill was LK's next film as director and the soundtrack there was basically pop songs, wasn't it? I don't remember that there was a credited composer on it was there? Cheers
