So if we already have the original recording, you're saying that disc 1 makes it still worth buying this set???

I think it's a good recording. And since we're not likely to get a release of the original again, I will recommend it. I could have lived without most of the contents on disc two, but disc one is worth the cost of the 2 disc set easily. If you love the score to EXODUS, then it's very much recommended. "I could have lived without most of the contents on disc two" Really? Just so everyone is clear I think this 2 CD SET is nothing short of AWESOME And the additional tracks are feature some outstanding stuff Here is a full track list Disc/Cassette 1 1. James Fitz said somewhere that this was the album he's most proud of producing. The extra material is very good too in my opinion.

You've convinced me! And even though I seem to have ALL the "True Grit" recordings, including the new L-L-L, I'm enjoying the Tadlow of it too. Ten minutes later, and I just ordered it, along with the 2-CD set of "Lawrence of Arabia."

You really think the original is thin sounding? I think it is extremely thick as well as harsh. And the poster who said the sound could not be improved on the original must have strange playback hardware. There were two different recordings with the same track titles. One used a much smaller orchestra and was mono, though the pieces were longer, whilst the other was the original London recording with shorter pieces. Neither was wonderful, though the latter was infinitely better.

since the subject of purchasing El Cid was mentioned by edzwoomom, can anybody recommend this cd in terms of breadth of sound, orchestration and harmony by those who have it? thanks a lot. Are you asking about 'El Cid'? Since the composer's original sheets were used, how could it be otherwise than as he composed it? A great release.

In the past couple of weeks I've bought Tadlow's "True Grit," "Exodus," and "Lawrence Of Arabia," and they ALL sound great -- what a joy to have these wonderful scores with such sparklingly clear sonics!!! Which takes nothing away from previous recordings -- I continue to love my La-La-Land "True Grit" and previous versions of the others. Frankly, these later recordings are for those of us who can't seem to get enough of them!
