That one thread got a bit out of hand, reminded me of all those discussions about Zimmer. So I got to wondering, does anyone have anything good to say about Perseverance. I've only about half-a-dozen of their releases. Red Sonja was good enough for me released as such. I was happy when I read that Rain Man was coming, but the sound quality was a disappointment. The most important thing for me was Corigliano's rejected score for Edge Of Darkness. Unfortunately I don't have much praise for this label. But if you have, please, post it. For me, Perseverance is maybe kind of a half-assed label. But that's probably because, and you might want to check this on google translate, half of the word literally means 'ass' in Finnish (perse = ass).

Robin has been doing a fine job in a tough industry...more praise to anyone who releases orchestral filmscores these days !

I've got 3 Perseverance CDs: Hans Zimmer's Rain Man, which I love. Nick Glennie Smith's The Secret Adventures Of Jules Verne 2CD, which is enjoyable but a little too long. Gary Chang's Death Warrant, which is not a strong score, but I like the fact that it got released.

So you open up a new thread because the old one was being too harsh on the label and then call them half-assed... nice. My "half-assed" remark was meant as a joke. But I find it here, as in actual face-to-face life, that my jokes don't get understood. On the inter web it is especially difficult because I don't use smiley faces ever. The joke was, that half of the word 'perseverance' means ass, thus: Perseverance is half-assed. Well, as a Finnish comedy team once put it: Humour doesn't always have to be funny. Anyways, I certainly didn't mean for this one to be another hate thread. I was very happy to have a reissue of Red Sonja, and that particular album is now in a Life Savers folder on my computer, along with about 40 other albums from my favourite composers. Lilies Of The Field was nice to have, as I want to have every Goldsmith on my shelves. Same goes for Three Amigos, although in that case I want all Bernsteins. Also releases like Konferenz Der Tiere, Slipstream and Nowhere To Run are good listens, and I've rated them relatively highly, on a scale from 0 to 5, they're all in 3,5 - 4 (I can be a bit harsh at times, some of McCreary's Galactica scores are to me 'coasters').

My bad, I didn't read the original thread through carefully enough. Please accept my apologies and I hope there's no hard feelings. I get to so-and-so amount of misunderstandings with my humour in written form due to the lack of smileys and in real life due to my dead-pan delivery. So an ounce of fault lies with me. Apologies accepted, hopes fulfilled. Rejected Chinatown will probably be included in my next order from SAE. Thanks for recommendations.

Looks like I have to post yet another time after all. Thanks for all the kind words you guys are sending my way. It's nice to know that there are people, who appreciate and like what one is doing. I also truly appreciate Intrada's kind olive branch gesture. Thanks, guys! I know this is a competitive business, but I would much rather prefer if we could all get along and be happy if another label gets a good release out, after all, we are all in it for the same reason. I know I am. BTW, for those who enjoyed Mutant, we have a major surprise coming up... Hope to see many of you on Sunday at 2pm at Dark Delicacies here in Burbank. Your friend, Robin Esterhammer
