www.factmag.com/2013/6/20/day-of-the-dead-soundtrack-to-receive-a-long-overdue-vinyl-reissue

At last!! Adios to the abortion of LP transfer & horrendous M&E tracks from Numereonoen, whatever the hell that flash in the pan label was - LaLa Land is righting a serious wrong!

This is from John Harrison's Facebook page, LP & CD release to coincide with an LA
screening, attended by the composer, George Romero & other DAY alumni.

Of course.....the link doesn't work, and I can't find it on the Factmag site.
Works on my phone, when I click on what Harrison linked to!
Anyway, no dates or much more info than the above, I'm just excited to have the full
score efx free, taken from 24 track masters....

But a vinyl re-issue means the LP-assembly, doesn't it ??

Aaaaaah ...

Thanks for the RIGHT link Drakapa!

A CD of the full score is mentioned, so maybe the vinyl IS the album assembly only?
Will be interesting to see how this plays out - it's a looooong score, but a favorite of
mine, I'm really looking forward to having it all.

Makes sense.

BSX doing LOST EMPIRE, HowlinWolf hopefully BOOGEYMAN this year and now this.
DAY OF THE DEAD on Blu-Ray later this year with a new transfer.
Boy, am I happy right now.

Maybe someone, someday will also find the stereo-tapes of Carpenter's ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13.

If this is true than after Insurrection this has made my day/week/month... even more! Big fan of the score and was devastated to find out the extra material was lost, a complete release would be a guitar/synth/bongo bliss!!! big grin

I'm too used to Facebook - we need a like option smile

I forgot Scream Factory has a new BD of DAY coming - from the sound of
it, the new 90min. documentary is going to be HUGE.
And yes, coming on the heels of one more piece of the Trek puzzle, Insurrection,
coming up - good times indeed.....

from that picture of the tapes:

We are excited to announce that our 2nd release will be George A. Romero's Day Of The Dead. This will be a definitive release, over 40 cues, over an hour of music. Composed and performed by John Harrison (Creepshow, Tales From The Darkside, Tales From The Crypt).

Awesome news! Always thought this was the best of the Romero zombie scores (and films). I especially love the music from the finale, once the zombies get into the base and all hell is breaking loose as the characters try to escape.

BSX will apparently do Howarth's RETRIBUTION score as well, but maybe not this year(?), I dunno.

As for Carpenter's ASSAULT...I strongly doubt there exist any stereo-tapes of this score. I think
the mono release sounds just fine.

Totally awesome news!! Day has long been my favorite of Romero's Dead films. I will definitely plan to be at this screening. It's been a good while since I've attended a show at the Egyptian. I'm due for sure!

Geez guys, gotta frame this thread for bringing so much joy to this wacky board!

Still, despite lusting for the complete score, I really think Harrison did a superb job
on the album assembly in the 80's - that 19min. suite always just breezes by, I've
never been bored with it once, feels like it's 4mins. long.....
