... will be announced by MV today on this board.

All MV has let slip is that it's a 2CD set.

My money is on Die Hard by Michael Kamen!

-MV hinted at its release by quoting the movie back when he was getting ready to announce the 2010 comic con titles

-MV said this on November 30th: "HA HA! It's funny you mention that. Back in Jan when I was planning our schedule I had 3 x-mas themed soundtracks planned for release, but only one of those original 3 made it in time for this years batch -- Batman Returns. LOL"

I think Die Hard was one of the other Christmas-themed ones, and it got pushed back to 2011.

It should be soooo much better than the poorly produced Varese CD!

In other La La news, don't forget we got:

Jim Henson's Storytellers/Greek Myths by Rachel Portman (MV's last post concerning it said it was slated for Q1 2011, which at this point means either 3-15 or 3-29, unless its been pushed back again)

Medal Of Honor 8CD box set (Giacchino, Lennertz, Dwadji) - March 29th or April 12th.

Crysis 2 by Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe - April 12th in general retail, could be on the LLL site March 29th

The X-Files 4CD box set (Mark Snow) - MV just said it was slated for May (which should mean May 10th or May 24th)

Friday Night Lights by W.G. Snuffy Walden - ???

Didn't hear about Crysis. I'm listen to samples once that's up.

I am thinking Die Hard as well. He DID announce that a Kamen would be ready for last year (which didn't happen), he alluded to it coming (the quote is over at the moviemusic website and the link is somewhere on the "All News La La Land" thread, AND it's probably a big title if it's announced by itself. Can't wait@

Seems there is a bit of controversy about Crysis 2 and who actually did the score... I know, surprise surprise... but this time it is reported that Zimmer wrote the main theme and 2 other composers not afffiliated with MV wrote it. Can anyone shed light on this? Will the Lala release be what Zimmer and Balfe wrote or those 2 other guys... can't remember there name.

Crysis 2 has been up at Amazon for weeks now:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004MPAFUY

I've had it mentioned on the wikipedia page ever since:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La-La_Land_Records

And yes, I forgot about that quote from MV about Die Hard! Lemme see if I can dig it up

Here's the quote from the moviemusic.com boards:

MV told me that (with a slight grin on his face when I mentioned "Hook") only Spielberg and Williams have the say on what is released. MV wouldn't elaborate further, but he seemed to indicate that La-La had been efforting a release, and Spielberg and Williams are the ones they are counting on for permission. As to Die Hard, Michael Wandmacher (composer of "Piranha 3-D") had mentioned how he had bought the limited release of Die Hard, and had it mounted on his wall in clear plastic, unopened. MV commented from the side, "I'd sell it quick if I were you." This comment brought chuckles of knowing form all within earshot. Perhaps La-La is planning a more prominent Die Hard release?

Sadly, the moviemusic boards have been updated and you can no longer link directly to the old boards, but it WAS at http://www.moviemusic.com/mb/Forum1/HTML/017572.html

Diehard - double CD next week?

Thanks. I've pre-ordered cuban cigars and vintage champagne.

That amazon link does not shed any light on who wrote the music though.

They are likely still working out the details of how everything will be credited.

Wierd how the Japan amazon has the Zimmer/Balfe names inserted into the exact same description of the soundtrack yet the US amazon omits the names.

Leave it to MV Gerhardt to be both informative, funny and slightly self-depreciating. smile
