Just saw this movie for the first time last night (TCM) and it has a lovely score by Max Steiner. It seems it was an independent film released through RKO in 1946; I'm wondering where the score elements might be (if they even exist anymore), and if this could see a possible CD release. The movie had a fine cast, as well -- Claudette Colbert, Orson Welles, Natalie Wood, George Brent and a very young Richard Long.

The complete score survives on acetates. It was recorded at Goldwyn and the fidelity is terrific. Some of the discs are a bit worn. I know it's on BYU's want-to-do list.

This is one of my very favorite films. A great soap opera. But it contains a terrible music edit probably suggested by director Pichel. When Claudette appears on the stairs, the camera cuts to Orson seeing her in disbelief. There is a blaring orchestral chord leading to a very dramatic cue. It's a shock moment and most audiences laugh at the overtness of the music. The cue actually has a several-bar build up to that moment that would have softened the shock and probably not resulted in audience laughter. But they decided to to go for broke. Wrong choice in my opinion.

Just listened to the isolated score track on the recent bluray release. Its one of steiner's best and would make a great cd release. Most of the sound is extremely good.

Iso track was produced from acetates at BYU. They let me include the trailer finale as a coda even though it was not "from the movie" !!

More to the point, "Tomorrow is New Year's Eve"... so are the long-promised and much-anticipated Steiner announcements imminent? A New Year's Day announcement would get 2018 off to a great start :-)

I also listened to the commentary track. It's excellent!, well researched and never a dull moment.

PFK,Basil,Cody and other Golden Age Fans.
Ray Faiola is surely not a man of many clues for his releases.
His upcoming release by Max Steiner is still a mistery.

What truly is disappointing that I have several times asked Ray an polite question concerning some
of his releases on Chelsea Rialtp Studio site but NEVER had an a reaction from him .

That's a pity because over the years beginning with the old version of The Searchers (BYU) I have
purchased almost everything fom Ray Faiola Studio's at Screen Srceen Archives.

But nevertheless Let them coming Ray and ship them to The Netherlands.

So sorry, Toposs, no disrespect intended I assure you. It's really my own frustration with the amount of work that Craig, Jim Titus and I put into these productions only to be stopped by the proverbial brick wall of corporate delays. I guess I just get tired of singing the same old song. Believe me, I would love nothing more than to share all kinds of news of projects in the fire but almost every time I have done so the hold-ups become protracted and I feel like a nasty farmer dangling a carrot in front of a desperately hungry horse.

I'm thrilled that Intrada was able to get the Waxman box cleared and hopefully we will be soon on the tarmac path.

CRS/SAE and BYU are eternally grateful for the devoted fans we have, especially as collectors of vintage tracks become more and more precious to us.

Best wishes to one and all for a great 2018 which I HOPE will yield actual product on the shelves at Screen Archives!!

And please don't hate me for not being more forthcoming. I share your frustration in every respect.

"Tomorrow is Forever" is a great motion picture from all aspects of it's production values to the remarkable acting talents of Claudette Colbert, Orson Wells, George Brent, Richard Long and the very, very young Natalie Wood. The blu-ray music only track by the great Max Steiner is one of the most emotional scores I've ever heard. I know the film inside and out and it never ceases to move me emotionally. Steiner's score is a great study in film music composition that makes each scored scene come alive with such force. The use of wordless female voices in several cues is remarkable in their effectiveness to the scenes which they are applied to. Ms. Colbert never looked or acted as great as in this production and, oh, Mr. Wells...he can do more with just a face movement or an eye brow movement that ten thousand words. His is a great subdued performance which breaks my heart in what he discovers throughout the film and what he cannot express but only hold internally. No matter what is said about the staircase scene, it still is shattering in it's impact. And 70 years plus after it's release, this motion picture still has the power to move one. It may be called a "woman's" film but I believe it is much more than that: a film where words cannot be spoken, emotions not shown, someone living in the past believing that she will recapture it...what more can one ask. The acetate music track in some cases is harsh but don't let that dis wade you from listening to it. There are many other cues that don't have these distortions. Mr. Steiner should have been nominated for the Academy Award for what I believe is a great achievement in film scoring. There is not one cue that does not fit this remarkable production. I cherish the blu-ray for it's great commitment to film making and especially to film scoring. It is a work that should be studied in film music classes.

Ray, are we any closer to getting an answer before Spring or Summer,2018 ? Summer 2017 is when you posted that a big one from Max Steiner is coming.

I hope the extra-long wait has something to do with Warner Brothers, the Gary Cooper Estate and the Marty Robbins Estate. Just a plug for my favorite "missing" Max Steiner CD. smile
