Terrible news, I'm still watching it on live tv now!

Hope to god there weren't any innocent passengers on board those planes?!

and now The Pentagon.

I can only imagine what it's like in those places, Mr mtodd.
I simply couldn't believe that I turned on the news this morning, and there was a 737 plowing into the WTC tower. Live.

I have a cousin who works in the World Trade Center who narrowly escaped with his life before the building went. Now that my family feels the relief of knowing he is all right, my focus now shifts to prayer for those families who have suffered losses from this tragedy which will be stamped on our minds for the rest of our lives as surely as the Kennedy Assassination and the Titanic were for earlier generations.

What the hell has happened here??

The World Trade Center is gone?

Yes. It's gone. Two commercial planes were hijacked and rammed right into both towers and they collapsed. Another crashed into the Pentagon.

It's horrible scene here in the city. The loss of life must be staggering. Men and women are crying on the streets and there are speculations on the possibility of was. Horrible, horrible.

Terrorism with its ugliest and sickest face. I am shocked, outraged, and saddened. I can't even describe what I felt when I saw the two twin towers collapse. I can't even type anymore now and will be going offline now. I mourn.

For all of us who in this forum and in other forums, have sometimes seen our disagreements over matters of politics, religion or whatever else turn these forums into dens of hatred and flaming (and at times I admit I have been culpable in fanning flames of such an exchange), may we look upon this tragedy as a time for putting things in perspective and live with that sense of perspective the next time we feel compelled to say something we shouldn't.

Man oh man. What a way to wake up, to hear my mom opening the bedroom door and saying the World Trade Centers are gone from a terrorist attack. I still can't believe it, even as I watch the footage on Fox News.

This is horrific beyond imagining or thought...I do want everyone to realize these craven acts are designed to make us lose faith and hope. As difficult as it may seem: DON'T. Don't let them 'win'. I am not speaking from any religious platform, mind you, I mean faith in man's ability to live together.

I still can't believe this. You hear about it in other countries, but when it hits so close to home, it really makes you open your eyes. Even though I'm on the opposite coast, it still feels too close for comfort. To think of what those poor people on the plane were going through just before they crashed into the buildings, and all the police and firemen on the street below when the tower collapsed. This is so awful . . .

Brad,

THANK GOD you are okay...I tried calling you but, of course, all circuits are busy. Thank you for posting. My thoughts are with you and all New Yorkers right now...and of course with all the families of the victims, whose numbers cannot even be fathomed at this time.

Again, thank you for posting Brad...my heart is just a bit more at ease knowing that you are okay.

Joe

Brad, thank you for posting. I was in a twit wondering if you were
in New York and well. I think we have at least 3 or 4 more Board posters who live
there, and I hope they check in soon.

Predictions are that more were killed today than were killed at Pearl Harbor.

This is an unimaginable tragedy. My prayers go to the victims and all the
rescue workers who are trying so valiantly to help.

at a time like this, it's important to remember that in the end, all of life is war; all that changes is the look & the location of the front lines.
"terrorism" and "exercise of force by legitimate authorities" are mere semantics dictated by said authorities. in the end there is no such thing as an "innocent civilian". we on this side of the fence are the beneficiaries of countless victories past and present, which inevitably meant defeat for someone else. from time to time, this is the price we'll have to pay for those advantages.
at a time like this, it's important to keep one's vision unclouded by indignant, sanctimonious notions of the moral superiority of one's own side, and simply attend efficiently to the situation at hand. wanna do something? go donate some blood.
so long, fsmmb-
