Wow, who thought the complet score would be 90 minutes? And the original album is also included. A dream come true.

I never thought I’d be this excited to revisit this score. The samples bring me right back to being a kid again when I first heard the soundtrack... bravo!

"...Entire 2-CD Intrada release is assembled and mastered from original 1987 two-track stereo masters engineered by Shawn Murphy at The Burbank Studios across seven days in May, 1987 and vaulted by Universal in pristine condition. "

Seven days in May! I'm glad it didn't take 100 days of the dragon.

So, what was the slice of un-used score?

And the original album is also included.

Twice, since every single track on the album seems to be exactly the same (based on name and length) as in the complete score program.

I don't like how they do it but I am willing to pay the extra $10 to finance a full score like this from someone like Horner. These aren't cheap projects and they don't write music like this anymore (or very rarely).

Not as weird as the Kritzerland Gorky Park (I do love that score, though)!

It's funny to hear another Horner score that uses the rhumba, two years before Tummy Trouble.

I've been wrong before.

The samples are impressive. (I could not have predicted a harpsichord.)

I'm very happy the original album sequence is included

A) because it means you can experience those tracks without flipping discs and

B) two discs were needed anyway, so better that than empty space!

C) it was Horner's preferred presentation at time of release.

Seems like the album's ideal, but I'm sure there's some worthwhile cues to be salvaged here.

Some of those unreleased cue samples are top-drawer Horner. This is one of those scores that wasn't really on my radar for an expansion but now I'm excited to hear.

I remember catching the film a few times on telly over the years (I did see the film at the cinema originally) and hearing music, really good music, we never had on the old LP/CD, but I didn't know there was SO MUCH unreleased (or unused).
The sad, plaintive stuff by Horner in this film (like COCOON) is both gorgeous AND heartbreaking.
Lots of the suspense music is Horner riffing on Herrmann, to my ears.
Really looking forward to this one smile

I'd actually prefer the empty space.
