I like the MP cover better, at least it has style. Lion King cover looks terrible. Did it take the artist more than 15 minutes?

I wonder why this new artwork is so juvenile and they're not using any of the poster art we've become so familiar with over the years?

At least this time we're getting the longer album version of the Overture. I notice there are no road show elements here, so maybe they no longer exist, or are they just duplicates of what we already have? MP always had an intermission when I saw it as a wee lad (right after "Stay awake") but I was too young to remember if there was any sort of Entr'acte let alone a stand-alone Overture or Exit Music.

Looking forward to this and the other legacy collections, especially the Menken stuff. Hope they sell well so Disney will continue this collection past 2015.

Their going for a stylistic artsy fartsy design. Her style reminds me of the stylist for Sleeping Beauty. (The name escapes me)

Not that interested in this release. Disc 1 and 3 are the same as disc 1 and 2 from the 40th Anniversasry Special Edition, so only disc 2 includes previously unreleased music.

BTW, the track numbering on the site is all wrong.

So, this includes Sherman brothers' original score?

Do we know for sure that this includes the overture without the edit?

Regarding....

"Let's Go Fly A kite"

Do we get the complete film version - which segues into Mary Poppins flying off and then segueing into the end credits?????

The album version is too short, and this is one of my all time favorite songs from the Sherman Brothers.

Or - do we get the film version of the end credits?
I do realize it was simply Let's Go Fly A Kite (orchestra only) but I would still like to have it -
Don't forget all that wonderful "Spoon Full Of Sugar" music as Mary Poppins flies away - this was all one lengthy track that starts off with "Let's Go Fly A Kite".

The last "Poppins" CD wasn't complete - so I'm certainly hoping that this one will be.
Anyone know for sure?

It’s too long ago now to remember, but, i’ve always thought that the last part of the Overture (Jolly Holiday) on the original album must have been the Entr’acte ?

It smacks of lights dimming and curtains opening - Yes ?

So this legacy collection of Mary Poppins has NO new music from the actual film? Just new recordings of songs and some more people talking? I know one old version had the Shermans talking about the music so I guess that's been carried over and the demos were on the last version, but this NEW Legacy Edition has NO NEW music from the actual movie? That's a bummer as I was hoping for more score or something from the actual film.

Apparently, the Overture is the longer version, where the Disc 3 version is the album version.

That's not much, but I was happy to at least get some score when Randy put out that great edition a couple of years ago.

Many thanks for the info. I had overread that - it's actually the other way around: the album version has a tag that is missing in the movie (and subsequently on all official CD versions)...

When I was working at Disney I was given a roll of picture with 4 magnetic stripes, that would be played in a theater with a 'penthouse' 4-track magnetic head on the projector, and all it had was Julie singing 'Stay Awake' to the children followed by the Intermission title (no audio). I don't recall if it had incoming picture for part two so I cannot clarify here for sure if it had an entr'acte. I cannot say for sure about an overture or exit music, I believe it was researched and nothing was found.

Several years before that I had quite an effort trying to get the original 'Buena Vista' logo music re-instated on "Mary Poppins". Back during that time Disney composers wrote a short piece for the 'Buena Vista distribution logo'. Every film had a different piece of music written for it that just lasted a few seconds. When these films were released on home video they would remove them and replace it with their modern logo, picture and sound. I complained about it quite a bit and I'd like to think that it might have worked in some cases.

I also recall hearing the audio for the opening reel which I think was called 'Radio City Music Hall Premiere' and the only difference that I heard was the music at the end of the main title was slightly extended prior to the 'Pavement Artist' sequence.

I would like to know if 'One Man Band' includes the lyrics sung by Bert -
'Room 'ere for everyone, gather around....' etc. This was omitted from the previous 2 CD collection.

Nope. Nothing from Bert at all on the track.
