What’s your favourite and why?
There are a lot to choose from of course, I won’t list them so which collaboration do you think is the greatest?
My personal favourite is Morricone/Tornatore (even moreso than with Leone). I love Tornatore’s films, and it’s hard to imagine them without Ennio’s music. I believe he has composed some of his best music here, and it’s clear Tornatore takes a lot of interest in the music.
My favourite is the most obvious one... John Williams and Steven Spielberg. Why? I would say because it's been the most consistently brilliant and varied collection of scores I have ever heard. Some real masterpieces among them.
But I also really dig the Dante/Goldsmith and DePalma/Donaggio team-ups too! I love the whimsical, yet broad quality Goldsmith brought to the Dante films and Donaggio's stunning music added such layers of class to DePalma's thrilling Hitchcockian re-takes.

Well, there are a couple of obvious ones so far, my favourite being Herrmann/Harryhausen. But I can't believe no one even this early in the game hasn't mentioned
Morricone/Sergio Leone, Elfman/Burton and especially.... Herrmann/Hitchcock.
I'd say these plus Harryhausen/Herrmann are my personal favourites with Williams/Spielberg next. It is a classic example.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Jerry Goldsmith/Franklin Schaffner. Some great films. Patton, Planet of the Apes, and Islands in the Stream just to mention a few. Then there was Goldsmith/Gries. The movies weren't great, but the scores were.
