I always find it curious when it comes to fans and collectors if they ever saw everything on something they really like. For instance Jerry Goldsmith fans, have they heard every score that he ever did? ALFRED NEWMAN fans have you heard every score he did? Is there a genre fan out there who has seen nearly every HORRORSCIFI film ever made or more feasible every one ever made in America, Britain, Italy, etc etc. I personally have achieve such completion on certain topics. But when it comes to say Georges Delerue I still got about 10% to go.Any comments? any completions of your own?

I have seen or heard everything by Bernard Herrmann that is available, including radio, films, TV shows and concert works. The only things I've not heard are some early concert works that were never recorded, some radio shows which apparently no longer exist, and some very rare TV shows (such as PURSUIT, the "Last Clear Chance" episode of KRAFT SUSENSE THEATRE (shown once and not included in the syndication package), and episodes of STUDIO ONE, which, as of this time, are nowhere to be found).

My particular niche is John Barry, if you haven't guessed. No, I can't say I've seen or heard it all because, for example, I have never seen the version of The Golden Child with his score in (who has?); I've never heard the 'lost' scores such as Sinful Davey or Goodbye Lover (who has?). But that's because they've not yet been available for mere mortals like me to see or hear. I've heard all the music that has been made commercially available, however; and I have seen all the films that have been available for seeing in the last thirty years. I haven't yet seen MISTER MOSES, however, as that has never been on video or DVD and hasn't been shown on television for as long as I've been looking for it. So, when it comes to my niche, I'd say I'm a 98%er which is about as good as you can get, but not a 100%er — and in a way that's good because it means there's always something left. Cheers

Well, I have seen a Pushmi-Pullyu, and I tell you I've seen the world, I've been around, I could tell you stories That would quite astound you! I'm not a fool! I went to school I've been from Liverpool to Istanbul I'm no fool! And anyone will tell you that I'm sharper than a knife But I've never seen anything like it In my life! More to the point, however, I think it's safe to say, especially among FSM posters, that no one we read here has ever seen every movie or heard every score our favorite composers have worked on. I'm pretty much of a completist for all the golden age composers, plus Bernstein and Goldsmith and Williams and Thomas Newman and a few others still scoring. I've not seen everything I have scores for, but I have seen plenty of movies they scored that have never been represented on recordings. All of their work is not really worthy of being recorded, I dare say, but that won't stop me from procuring it if it is recorded.

No, nor would I want to. A number of my favorite film scores, are to films I have never seen.

Not even close, I've only seen about 15% of the films that accompany the scores that I own. And the scores I own are not even close to being complete in any genre or composer. So how do I pick 'em? Word of mouth and sound samples, that's how!
