That is weird, because the Thunderball LP was the only Bond soundtrack (to my knowledge) that ever went out of print. I easily acquired new copies of all the Bond soundtracks in record stores in the late 70s-early 80s but Thunderball was the only one I couldn't find, because it was OOP. Hugely frustrating because it was my favorite Bond score!
It finally was repressed (w/ new artwork) in the mid or late 80s, but was out of circulation for a long time. I wonder if it is something to do with the film itself and the whole Kevin McClory rights issue.

Trying to collect all the James Bond soundtracks and they all run from about $4.00 used to $12.00 brand new. So why is Thunderball running about $32.00 used? Is it OOP already?
'Already'? It's been out for 11 years, so if it is OOP, it's not exactly a case of 'already'.
That said, it is strange that it's just this one that's suddenly gone up in price. They've been cheap for ages.

Sometimes, when things start going out of print, it's because a new edition is coming.
And sometimes, it's not.
Wouldn't it be nice if a 2CD Thunderball, with album program plus other songs (Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), etc, on disc 1, and complete score in film order on disc 2.

I had the same problem in the 1970s when I was collecting the Bond scores. Thunderball was nearly impossible to find but fortunately at a record store in downtown Washington, DC, I came across a cutout (the corner was trimmed) Thunderball for $2.50. I still have it to this day even though I have the expanded CD. I personally think the score was sold out and was one of those UA records that just did not get a second or third run.
On a side note, all those years looking for Bond scores and other records was part of the fun. I miss searching through piles of LPs in those old record stores.

"Thunderball" sounded like crap to me on LP and the original CD. The 30TH Anniversary collection and later extended version thankfully rectified this.
I certainly hope that this means that all titles will go OOP and we're finally getting the "real deal" (especially for the post-1973 titles). Hopefully the label who's doing it will get the mastering job right and will retain the dynamics of the original recordings. It would really be frustrating to finally get all the unreleased recordings in brickwalled sound - unfortunately not an exception these days (even in the soundtrack world)...
