So the limited edition of the 11 soundtrack cds of the Doctor Who music in the 'Tardis' Set has finally been announced.... £135! Seems a bit steep...I really don't know whether to go for this or not as all the new series music has already been available. Guess its really if you want the packaging or not. Will i kick myself if i miss it?
For those interested the ordering is available on 25th April for one week only.

£76 for international shipping?!

I waited for this set from the day when it was announce...
But now I can predict that with 90% probability I'll say "pass" for this in April.
I'm VERY disappointed! frown

I could care less about the packaging. They are making a mistake with this. Just give us the damn music in a multi box set.

£76 for international shipping?!

WOW! That's a serious hit, indeed. frown

That said... given that the set has some special packaging, is it possible those inflated shipping charges are meant to cover extra protection for the set (both physical packaging, and additional insurance and the like) to ensure copies making their way across the pond make it in good shape? I mean, it still seems awfully steep (emphasis on "awful"), and I haven't even figured the currency conversion yet, but I'm just thinking out loud...

That said, for someone with a genuine interest in the series and its music (and who also likes the show in general enough to want displayable items like this little TARDIS) but who doesn't yet have any of the music, might it be an okay deal? I'd really like this, even if I really wouldn't like paying for it, and I'm trying to decide whether I can justify getting it...

Well, for me high price is not #1 problem (at least, we can pay not through PayPal).
Main problem will be custom service.
Our government wants to change law, and want to take taxes from every package from abroad, which cost will be higher than 150 Euro.
But today they still don't made final decision in one important case - one officials want to forbid to Russians to buy more than 1 (!!!) package per-month (for 150 Euro + shipping cost, which must be include in final price!).
Another one doesn't want to limit quantity of packages, but if one of them will cost more than 150 Euro, you'll pay for it.
And if I understand correctly, this set will be shipping in 16 weeks after pre-order finish. This means - late August-September. So to this time they will already change laws, and I need to pay another 30% (another 63£ or even more!) for this package.
This made Blue TARDIS really GOLD TARDIS... (((

£76 for international shipping?!

Only 36 £ for Europe! But it is now 55 £ for USA... This set is worth buying, it is a collector´s gem.

Just got a message through from Silva Screen announcing that they are releasing the 11 disc contents of the 'Tardis Set' without the fancy packaging for £70. This seemingly will now have a 2 week order window as opposed to the original one week.

This makes me much happier, I'll be ordering the standard packaged 11 CD set.

I have a feeling they'll be selling quite a few less Tardis sets.

At current exchange rates the Tardis version works out to approximately $319. Yikes.

Well, I have been looking at the site and they are up for pre-order. $319 for the TARDIS Set and $150 for the clam shell set. Those prices include shipping to the US. For the smaller set is says, "This has all the musical content of THE TARDIS EDITION, but the eleven CDs are packaged in a standard clamshell format and not in the TARDIS model, with a reduced booklet and packaging." But when you look at the picture of the set, it looks like the box is a clam shell but the CDs are just in paper sleeves. Is this correct or will they actually be in jewel cases? I am not wanting to pay the $319 for the TARDIS set and I am considering the clam shell set, but I am concerned with the paper sleeves. Anyone know?

The answer is (as always wink ) at the end:
Please note the final artwork may differ from image shown
So maybe they WILL use standard clamshell format.
But even if no - you always can replace it!

Well, they have less than 2 weeks to let us know. Right now it is still a "no sale" for me.

I prefer the cheaper version because it is the music which is important for me. The set is expensive for us who live in Europe, too!

Ok, I pre-ordered "light"-version.
Hope they really will send emails about all changes (in design etc.) wink

I did create a separate thread about this, but I'm just curious…

Silva Screen does have a section to enter a voucher/discount code.

Is it at all possible that anyone has a voucher code they might be willing to share? or a location to find one?

I live in the US and am considering the Tardis set…but $319 (as already noted) is rather expensive.

Any help in this would be greatly appreciated!

Anyone from Silva Screen want to clarify this yet?

"This has all the musical content of THE TARDIS EDITION, but the eleven CDs are packaged in a standard clamshell format and not in the TARDIS model, with a reduced booklet and packaging."

Clamshell format means jewel cases or paper sleeves (as pictured)?

Down to a week to pre-order.

No Ford Thaxton (your blocked), I am not going to contact them directly. They have to be reading this here to see what people are saying about the release.

So this dumb ass fanboy can't take the time to ask the company DIRECTLY to answer his question They must ANSWER HERE!

Wow, proving all you want is an audience for your bitching.

That's just the most mature and thoughtful course of action to take on your part...

Just got an email on this with more info...

Doctor Who: The Eleven Disc Edition - Has all the musical content of the Tardis edition, but the 11 CD's are packaged in a standard clamshell. Includes: 11 Discs with the same tracklisting as the Tardis Edition Housed in Card Wallets and a 32 Page Booklet.

So to dumb it down...the discs are in cardboard sleeves, and stored in a cardboard clamshell case. Just exactly like the picture shows.
