This post is not about naming every unreleased Barry. I am also not asking what released score you would like expanded.

The question is - What Barry score would you love to own but cannot because it has not been released?

For me, the answer is simple - The Betsy. The main theme is among Barry's most beautiful.

Easy. For me it would be The Tamarind Seed. I'd prefer the original tracks, but my thinking concerning re-recordings has evolved over the years and I'd be equally happy with that as well.

Love Among the Ruins, the Canadian TV film with Sir Lawrence Olivier and Katherine Hepburn!

In truth all of them, but the un-released score I want the most would be a toss up between The Tamarind Seed (the main theme and those airport suspense cues are simply fabulous), and the superb Willa Texas.
Special mention for The Gathering too.
Apologies for mentioning three titles.

Mike

No contest: MISTER MOSES

Poorly arranged and performed partial suites don't count as "released".

I'd love to hear his YEAR OF THE COMET score, as the replacement score is a favorite of mine and I can only imagine what Barry created.

The Tamarind Seed ... so as to retire my DVD rip and the awful boot I bought (unknowingly) back in 2001.

Hopefully with the near 15min defection scene(s) score intact.

Great film ~ fabulous score!

I think the real number one is SINFUL DAVEY but we know that's not possible.

The next one is MISTER MOSES but we know that's not possible too.

After that I would say it's an even tie between GOODBYE LOVER and YEAR OF THE COMET.

As Stephen says, without question 'Sinful Davey' and 'Mister Moses', but they ain't happening.

So probably 'Year Of The Comet'.

Love Among the Ruins, the Canadian TV film with Sir Lawrence Olivier and Katherine Hepburn!

Beyond the rerecorded theme I know very little about this TV film, do you know how much score there is in this film?

Barry's final work 'The Seasons'

The problem is, apart from those closest to him, we don't know how much was completed.

However, even a few sketches could be arranged and orchestrated by Nic Raine into a performable work

For me, it's THE TAMARIND SEED as well. It's a good listening experience, but of course I'd love more than the inofficial album cut as well. smile

Love Among the Ruins, the Canadian TV film with Sir Lawrence Olivier and Katherine Hepburn!
A loverly little Barry score, almost like a lullaby in a way. But sadly, as it's a Canadian production and likely recorded in Canada, a release seems unlikely.

When asked about "Junior Bonner" again, Roger posted in August, 2013:
Not anymore. I took another run at it. The problem is it's a short score and the only available elements were 1/4" mono stored at BYU. And BYU raised their transfer rates 10 fold, making the deal financially out of reach. We had the same issue with FUNERAL HOME -- really high costs, but in that case due to the Canadian Musician's Union. But that was a decent length score coming from 24-track stereo elements so we were able to charge a premium price (and thank you all, still, for supporting that release even with the high price tag). And that will be the last score recorded in Canada we do.

He went on to salso say licensing is easy, but it's the Canadian Musician's Union that was the problem.

If Intrada, one of the top labels, can't afford to to deal with the Union anymore, I just don't see other labels doing so.

What we need is the Canadian Lukas to help renegociate the fees. Or maybe we just fly him on there and have him relate that American is very cross with them over this. ;-)

If the whole score sounds as that famous demo, I'd like to see Goodbye Lover.
