New Poll
by Lukas Kendall
Maybe now isn't the best time to do this -- considering current events
-- but I've been going through a variety of recent CDs from our friends
at labels in Europe. Terrific stuff from Universal France by Delerue, Duhamel...crazy
spaghetti westerns from Italy...crime thrillers from Germany.
And it made me wonder: what, outside of the U.S. with its classic Hollywood
tradition of film scoring, is your favorite for soundtracks? Are you a
John Barry fan and can't go against his native England (where most of his
early work was done, including the Bond films)? A Morricone die-hard? A
Japanese anime or Godzilla fan? Or someone so in touch with your native
cinema -- or a particular group of foreign filmmakers -- that you would
champion it above all else?
What, in other words, is the most near and dear to your heart from,
quite literally, the whole world?
I've added a poll listing the major countries I COULD THINK OF and the
grouping of everything else into "OTHER" is not meant as some horrible
national slight! I was just trying to think of the major countries for
cinema so we didn't have 90 choices to pick from.
I look forward to seeing this one develop...and please send in your
thoughts about what you picked for our mail bag, address below.
