Call for Ideas
by Lukas Kendall
Andy Dursin's Aisle
Seat will be appearing with less frequency now that the summer movie
season is over -- Labor Day having passed and all. Thanks to Andy for another
great season of news, reviews and commentary.
So...it's that time again when I invite readers to send any articles
or article ideas for Film Score Daily.
Since the daily column started in May 1997 we have published between
1,100 and 1,200 FSD's by my count -- that's a lot of stuff! So, it's become
more difficult to publish opinions, commentary and the like that has already
appeared.
It's this simple: if you have an idea for an article you'd like to write
about film music -- email
it. That is, either the finished article, or a description of it for
my OK (which I'll probably give). Thanks!
On another subject...
We are considering revamping our Message
Board due to site usage issues...we will probably replace the existing
board with an exact clone (just with different coding that doesn't use
as much memory) but we are soliciting suggestions for changed and/or additional
features. Check
out the thread currently running on this topic.
And finally...
Without sounding like a parent saying "Don't make me come down there!"...I
am surprised and disappointed at the arguments that go on about the board
being moderated or not.
Ideally we would like to have an unmoderated board. Unfortunately, there
are one or two imbeciles (everyone knows who I am talking about) who like
to go crazy and wreck things for everyone. So, we have to moderate to keep
them out. (And good riddance.)
Let me make this clear:
This is a private forum -- we spend hundreds of dollars a month to keep
the site up -- and we have the right to ban abusive users and remove posts.
That being said, it would be nice if we could more clearly define what
is not allowed. So let me try. Please refrain from the following:
1) Excessive profanity (not just a swear or two) and racial
slurs.
2) Personal attacks involving the above.
3) Frivolous wastes of space.
As for what constitutes the above, we will make that determination based
on common sense. Specifically, Sheriff Joe will -- he's our moderator and
he's been doing the job. So, by all means, people have a right to their
opinions and to express themselves, but when it crosses the line, the hammer
will fall.
Now don't make me come down there!
If you have a response to any of the above, please
post it directly on the board.
